Hi De Hi!
I’m Sam from Admin To The Arts and I support creative freelancers, artists and small arts organisations with the creative admin support that keeps them and their work moving.
What makes me stand out from other freelancing admin assistants?
I am a dedicated soul who brings calm to the chaos, lightens the load, and helps get things done.
Whether it’s organising projects, managing the everyday admin, or simply being a reliable extra pair of hands, I work alongside my clients to keep things running smoothly.

With over 25 years’ experience in administration and a genuine love of the arts, I understand the practical side of running your own business and everything admin, to the creative world my clients work in.
I'm someone who loves to support people in doing what they love to do, stay organised and move forward with their ideas. I listen carefully to how my clients like to work, adapt to their pace, and support them in a way that feels practical and manageable.
For many of my clients, I become the person they can rely on when things get busy, be their sounding board for projects and ideas, help them to learn IT related tasks and the one who keeps track of the details so they can focus on their creative work.
If that's the kind of support you are looking for, then please feel free to get in touch!

How Admin To The Arts
came out of its shell

I've spent my career delivering high-level administration support in high-pressured County Council environments, where administration processes play a starring role from the ground up.
My abilities have seen me effectively manage teams of admin staff and efficiently run busy offices, setting up processes and implementing effective and time saving systems, to ensure they are user friendly with both the teams & management, alongside producing accurate data & reports, using advanced skills I've crafted and honed over many years. I’m very confident in my ability to deal with whatever work you send my way!
Following a redundancy, one thing I knew after 17 years of working for a large organisation, was that I didn't want to just get another 9-5! What I really wanted was to return to working in the creative field, and what I thought I would do was go travelling first! Well, you know how these things go, and before I knew it, together with my work at local theatres and on a local indie film, I had the crazy idea to start my own business, combining my passion with my skills to help and support busy creatives just like you.
You see I am at my happiest when I'm helping others in doing something they love. I get a great personal satisfaction from seeing people enjoy what they do, and I believe by combining my admin skills with my passion to support others, together with my understanding around the arts, I offer a unique and valuable service that caters to the diverse needs of the creative and entertainment industries.
The 'Open Learn' courses helped me to develop a plan from my initial crazy 'head in the cloud' ideas to a 'let's do this' idea! That is the kind of energy I can bring to you, and I truly believe that my skills and experience can help busy creatives to not only thrive, but flourish. The journey to freelance life has been exciting, challenging and so very rewarding. I continue to learn new skills and I love how it is evolving with every day.

My love affair with
the creative arts

I've had a passion for performing arts and theatre since childhood, and I don't know how I could have gotten through life without my love and appreciation of music. Listening to my vinyl, seeing bands live, getting lost in a stage performance or escaping into a good film or the pages of a book, is something that brings me so much joy, and I love how creatives can turn their vision into something truly inspirational, be that art, media, music or writing.
I believe the arts is an expression of an individual or group, which has the potential to reach others and bring people together through common appreciation. It can also be about great teamwork, with groups of people collaborating and using their individual skill sets to tell a story through words, music, performance, and art. The arts can create discussion, unite nations, and change your mood.
Every person in the world has some form of art in their lives, and it's quite amazing that one person's creativity or a group of people, can inspire reactions from so many others. After years of working in a corporate environment, I knew that I needed to return to, and be a part of, the creative process that has touched my life in so many ways, for so long.

All The World's a Stage
Ever since I can remember I have visited the theatre to watch pantomimes, musicals, ballets and shows and ever since I can remember, as soon as I walk into a theatre and sit down in those red velvet seats, I get a lump in my throat, and I just smile. Theatre is just a part of me that sings, dances, and feels deeply. It is an escape into someone else's world where you can forget the world around you and just be in the moment.... well at least till the curtains go down and the houselights come up.

Music
&
Me
Having parents who loved music, I was surrounded by it growing up. My love for music has grown with me or ripened with age some might say! However, my roots have not changed since I was at college. I love my heavy metal / rock and cannot put into words the buzz I still get from listening to vinyl in my music room or going to a gig and getting lost in the moment, knees bent, head down, and off you go...
I also love my blues, jazz, punk, and strong female vocalists / guitarists.

A Magical world of pictures & books
One of my earliest memories was being taken to the cinema and falling down the old collapsible cinema seats, but as soon as the picture came on, I was in a magical world.
I was captivated by weekly TV shows, films & musicals and I would get lost in the fantastical worlds created by my favourite authors. My imagination ran wild as a child, and it still amazes me how people create such works of art on a screen or in-between the covers of a book.
Roll on to 2022 and I finally got to experience what it was like to work on a film set.
